Typically, with 20 volume developeryou would be using equal parts when it comes adding color. If you are using the developer with bleach to create highlights, then the measurements are a little different.
Some Stylists like their bleach to be very creamy with a slight runniness since bleach expands. Some prefer it a little dryer. This just depends on the individual performing the service.
You should do it again once more time on the ends only with 20 volumeyou can try 30 vol, but i dont know how ur hair condition is, if u have go0d hair then go ahead and do it with 30 vol, but if u see ur ends are not not healthy do it with 20 vol.

Can I highlight my hair with 30 volume developer mixed with light golden brown hair color?I was inspired to share some of my hair color mixing secrets with you while making a banana pudding pie!
I found myself using the same method of mixing hair color to mix the banana pudding and milk. I added only a little of the liquid at a time for a smoother consistency. Here are some tips to help you master hair color mixing and make your life so much easier at the salon! Clear or cream developer? I learned with both because Paul Mitchell offers all levels in both types…where some brands mostly offer cream developer.
At the time, I preferred cream developer because it was easier to mix. It was messy and my mixture was always chunky. Add a little at a time as you mix. It takes a little longer, but it is so worth it! Mixing hair color with a brush is harder.
How to Choose Right Developer for Hair Color?
The color or powder lightener will clump in the brush…making it even more difficult to get a smooth consistency. You should be using mini whisks, or for you lazy lovelies out there…you can use plastic forks. If your budget is tight, then I suggest purchasing mini whisks and rinsing them immediately after each use. To be honest…tube squeezers annoy the shit out of me! Using a color key is the only way to go! Two basic types of color keys: 1.
If not…pressure could build up in the color tube forcing color to squirt out of the end. Oxygen can now enter the tube even when the cap is screwed on.What Level of Dye & Developer to Add Blonde Highlights to Brown Hair : Hair Color & Styling Tips
I started regularly using a scale to measure my color when I noticed someone at my salon doing it. She was the ONLY one that religiously used a scale when she was mixing hair color. She was the MOST professional stylist at Bubbles in my opinion and her clients looked very highly upon her. She also inspired me to slow down and take time for the little things like measuring and record keeping because they are very important.
She knew how important it was to be exact in your color formulations. Very helpful article, thank you! I live I Scotland and like many people at the moment, am on lockdown because of the Coronavirus.
But I was overdue for both when the lockdown came into force, and three weeks on, I look terrible! Do you have any advice for people on lockdown? My hairdresser suggested washing our hair less, using brown eyeshadow or brow powder, mascara, and root touch up products, etc.
Look at me! How much grey do you have? What is your artificial hair color? I had all over bleach blonde and just colored my roots with the wella 4A and 20 vol developer. My natural color looks just like the 4A on the wella hair color sample chart. Long story short, my brown did not turn out as dark as my natural color and does look a bit brassy also.I love to dye my hair all colors of the rainbow.
I love all things vintage, and I enjoy creating art, taking photos, and doing it myself. I've been very interested in bleaching and dying my hair on my own, in the comfort of my own home, for many years now.
When I first began, I didn't have a clue what I was doing—what strength developer to use, what a toner is, or how bleach worked. My first go-round, I used the highest-volume developer I could find. This resulted in horribly damaged hair that I ended up having to cut off.
I aim to help you guys from failing as catastrophically as I did. The hydrogen peroxide opens up the cuticle of your hair, allowing for color to take hold. If you've seen developer at your local beauty store, you'll notice that there are many different levels. The levels refer to the amount of hydrogen peroxide present—the higher the number, the more peroxide, the more lift you're going to get. Bleaching and toning your hair will cause damage to it. It's up to you to decide if you're okay with that!
It doesn't matter if you go to a stylist or do it yourself—the chemicals will tend to dry out your locks and strip them of their nutrients. If you're planning to bleach or tone your hair, be sure to follow the product instructions.
Using a strong developer for an extended period of time can totally fry your hair, and nobody wants that. Some great steps to take before and after processing your hair include dousing it with olive oil, coconut oil, conditioner, etc. Give the shampoo a rest, because that will strip your hair of its natural oils as well.
Since having bleached hair, I have reduced my shampooing to once a week. It starts out gross, but eventually your chemistry will even out and your head will produce just the right amount of oils. For me, this is a big no. This is what I used the first time I tried to bleach my hair.
It worked alright, but my hair turned to spaghetti. Use extreme caution if you're bleaching with this stuff. As a general rule, I say it's much better to do several rounds of bleaching with a lower developer volume than to ruin it all with "quick fix" If you're set on doing something as quickly as possible, I recommend going to a hairstylist.
It's going to be expensive, but they are professionals and can get your hair done in a day. Personally, I prefer to take my time and do it myself. That might mean spacing bleaching out over the course of two weeks, but it's cheaper and safer than using super strong products! If you are going from dark hair and looking to lift several levels of color away, 30 may be the right developer strength for you. If you decide to use this volume of developer, be mindful of how long you're leaving it in.
It's totally okay to do multiple rounds of lightening!Coming soon to the internet's top social site Facebook!

What Volume Developer Should I Use With My Hair Color?
Date published: Rated 5 out of 5 by snurse19 from Very gentle! I bought this developer along with the keratin infused lightening powder form this same line to do some free hand balayage highlights in my hair.
Now keep in mind just in one week, I started out with dark hair semi permanent dark dark brown almost black. I did a bleach shampoo with 30 volume developer - barely changed the color but nearly fried my hair, then after sleeping in coconut oil the next day I attempted to put a box copper color on my hair to add some copper and maybe lift out some more of the dark pigment- which basically turned it a dark copper with some red cherry tones.
So from here I did cap highlights drugstore which overall lightened up everything to a nice coppery and warm medium brown. I bought this lightener and developer to do very GENTLE balayage on my hair to have more copper and lighter pieces and this product did not leave my hair feeling squishy and stretchy or compromised AT ALL. It is a bit dry, but nowhere near as compromised as it should be after all its been through!
I highly recommend this product if you want to lighten or brighten already medium colored hair in a gentle way with minimal damage! Rated 5 out of 5 by anim3f0x from Amazing! About this to use for my blonde hair and from the moment I opened it the smell was wonderful No harsh smell there was a lot of conditioning to it and left my hair feeling great even after processing many times prior to this experience I will definitely be buying this product again and would recommend to anyone trying to be gentle with their dying process Date published: I use it with my toner and I love it.
