Hello, I have a c it cat 4x4. What fluid is used in the transmission? It looks like hydraulic oil. I don't have a manual. I heated it up to about deg for a short while before I noticed it.
I'm a little worried about that. It was a hot day, and I was going up a very long hill on road, in third. As soon as I noticed, I geared down to second and the the temperature went down immediately. I think I checked the right dip stick.
I checked the one beside the hydraulic dip stick. Any help would be appreciated. Dougie GJul 20, TO4 spec 10W. The way it is assembled makes it almost impossible to clean without removing it and separating the 3 component parts. Following these guidelines will help make this the best resource for heavy equipment on the net. Thanks for joining us and I hope you enjoy your stay!! Welcome to HeavyEquipmentForums. I bought a Cat backhoe about a month ago and I love this machine. Good power and very easy to operate.
I am big on maintnence so did the usual oil and filter, replace diff fluid and hydro tranny fluid with a cat TO2 equivelent fluid pretty sure that is what it is supposed to take The only problem with the machine is that when I get the brakes hot on hilly areas they start to make a loud growling noise. I got under tha machine and it looks like the brakes are adjusted up as far as they will go leading me to believe that the friction materials are in need of replacement.
Can anyone tell me how difficult of a job this might be and how much it would cost. I will only need to run the machine for another hours so I would like to keep the cost down. Any help is greatly appreciated. PootermagavinMay 3, Joined: Jan 16, Messages: 1, Location: In a van, down by the river.
This is a pretty basic job. Remove the rear axle from the machine, stand in one of the removed wheels and then unbolt the the other side and lift off from the diff. Stand this in the other wheel. Remove the diff section. These axles are ford new holland so parts are available at a few different places. Lee-onlineMay 4, I have done this 2x on my C.The year is Caterpillar, the industry leader in heavy equipment from loaders to excavators, suddenly enters the fray and releases the This machine was Caterpillars first attempt at a wheeled backhoe and they manufactured it in England.
This machine took the European and the American market by storm. This machine was packed to the teeth with power, sporting a Perkins 4. This system actually would fluctuate the engines RPM to increase the power of the machine, depending on the load you were carrying, without the operator having to ramp up the throttle. This system would prove to the industry that Caterpillar, wasn't playing around.
In Caterpillar did the unthinkable and offered the machine with "OBC" or optional backhoe controls, now commonly referred to as "pattern change", which would allow an operator the ability to operate the machine with the standard backhoe controls, or operate it with the controls used on an excavator. This allowed operators to use this machine without having to readjust to different patterns on job sites. They also included a turbo charger to the machine, increasing it's horsepower from 62 FWHP up to 70 FWHP and they also made the machine four wheel drive or 4x4 also known as 4WDthough a two wheel drive version was still offered.
In Caterpillar modified the hydraulic control valves for backhoe swing, boom, stick, and loader lift arms. Grease zerks were added in the backhoe bucket linkage to help the wear of the bucket knuckle. The stabilizer cylinder piston retaining bolt size was increased, which allowed more hours without service on the outriggers. The stick cylinder piston retaining bolt size was increased, which allowed for less worries of the boom sagging or dropping while in transit.
Grease zerks were also added in the loader bucket linkage, to ease the wear on the loader bucket knuckle and reduce "bucket squeak". Fuel tanks were modified to include filler neck and pick-up tube screens and a new cab glass shape was installed, rather than the traditional OROPS they were known for.
In Cat modified the swing system to increase torque and speed, and reduced wag over swing. A new slide seat mechanism was added and new work light arrangements were made for better roading and working conditions. In Cat introduced Series II, which included tighter AWD turning radius, increased fuel tank capacity by 33 percent, and a new turbo plus package with a larger hydraulic pump and turbocharger.
In the standardized ether starting aid became optional and inafter 16, rolled off the line world wide, production of the ceased and it was replaced by the B. InCaterpillar debuted the B. This machine was a dramatic upgrade from the prior model.
