I would connect to that printer directly and reboot it or put it on a scheduled reboot. Is there a reason for the reboot? LaserValley Technologies is an IT service provider. The printer itself would need to support that function. Most HP products will allow you to reboot through the embedded webserver or you can install HP Web JetAdmin which will allow you to schedule reboots.

There's too many variables for it to work. The printers all have to be networked and support the required functionality. All the printers I have access to from small printers to A0 architect type stuff across a range of manufacturers have web interfaces, but from there I can only restart, not shut down and I can't see WOL on any of them.

The only thing I can think of is you can get network connected power strips, so you could literally shut down the power, but that's not a graceful shutdown for the printers. You could do it with simple timer switches or network controlled power, but as already stated simply pulling the power on an active printer is bad, and will waste a lot of energy and toner. You can't script this, you will need to use the sleep settings as Joe has mentioned, but if my memory serves me well, the printers should be going into sleep mode anyway by default after a period of inactivity.

Oh, i see! Stick a sign by each printer saying "The last person leaving the office at night must switch the printers off. The first person coming into the office in the morning must switch the printers on".

If you are going to use sleep mode on HP systems make sure that the firmware is current. That said it's a schedule you have to define, no WoL, or commands you can send from the PC side. Granted an off hours print job will wake them up.
